Do I need to bring anything?

You can hire a mat for $1 per class. Please bring a towel to cover bolsters for yin classes. All other equipment is provided. Wear clothes you can move easily in and bring a towel and water bottle with you. We'll ask you to bare your soles...leave your shoes at the door, as we practice in bare feet.

What time should I arrive?

For your first yoga class, please arrive 10 minutes before the class starts to settle in and get comfy. We'll show you around and have a conversation about any of your injuries or special needs. The studio door is locked when the class starts. If you are late you will miss your class. Our classes start and finish on time.

I’m not flexible, can I come to yoga?

We hear that a lot. In fact we call flexibility the…umm, 'f' word because so many people think that they can't do yoga because they're not flexible. But don’t worry if you can’t touch your toes. That’s just fine. Our yoga teachers will make sure that each pose is adapted to suit you. You will learn that yoga is about strength, finding ease in your body and moving with grace and ease…not that 'f' thing.

Is it normal to have muscle stiffness after class?

Yes! Yoga is a form of exercise, and during our yoga classes, you will probably be moving parts of your body that haven't been moved for a while. So it's normal to experience muscle stiffness after your first class. The remedy? Come back within couple of days to do it all again.

I’m pregnant, can I come to yoga?

Every body - and every pregnancy - is different. This is why we recommend that you consult with your doctor or healthcare provider to get the green light to practice yoga during your pregnancy.

Once you have the green light from your doctor, it is very important to let us know about your pregnancy (we'll make a note on your file) so we can recommend which classes are suitable for you. Our yoga instructors will ensure that the practice is modified to suit each stage of your pregnancy.

I have injuries/special needs, can I come to yoga?

Absolutely. Our yoga teachers have a wealth of experience teaching students who have injuries or special needs. However, we do ask that you let us know before your class, so that our teachers can accommodate your injury or condition and offer your appropriate modifications. We offer a special class, Gentle Yoga on Monday and Thursday mornings at 10.50am, which specifically accomodates students with injuries, health issues or special needs. This class offers a gentle practice intelligently blending yoga poses, somatic movement, breath practice and meditation.

What age do I have to be to come to yoga?

We ask that all our students are 15 years old or above for our regular classes. Our kids classes are suitable for children over the age of 4. And our teen classes are suitable for anyone over the age of 11.

How often should I come?

Yoga is amazing - even if you only do one class a week you'll experience the benefits. If you can do more than that, you will certainly experience more benefits. Don't let time constraints or unrealistic goals be an obstacle - just come as often as you can. You will probably find that after a while you'll want to practice more often because yoga makes you feel great!
