$9,029 Raised!

With your love and support we raised $9.029 for Ramana's Garden, our Indian charity partner. Thank you from the bottom of our anaharta chakra (it's a yoga heart thing) for getting involved.

In travelling through India we have seen that the yoga is hidden in plain sight....you don’t see people practicing Warrior 2 but instead you witness a different kind of yoga, the yoga of service and devotion. We have met and been inspired by Prabhavati Dwabha, a former Hollywood actress who tuned her back on fame and fortune and created a very special Children's Home which provides care and love to the orphans of Rishikesh.

The last time we visited, we were invited to the birthday party of a little girl who was rescued after being found in a dumpster and now has a safe and loving home in this very special place. This is just one story: Prabhavati has rescued hundreds of children in her 36 years of continuous seva and we love her no-bullshit approach to making magic happen.

Prabhavati reached out to us for help and you stepped up. Thank you! The orphanage is usually funded by an organic cafe, which feeds the tourists. (There now no tourists and the cafe has been closed for over 12 months.)The orphanage is supported by long-term volunteers. (Volunteers are unable to travel.) COVID is rampant in Rishikesh, and she has told us "we are losing friends and neighbours every day." Thank you for supporting this very special place.

Prabhavati will use these funds for food, emergency medical supplies and schooling for the children of Ramana's Garden. They have been providing food for 150 villagers each day, their neighbours who have lost their income or who are supporting family members with COVID, which is rampant in Rishikesh.

Ramana’s Garden offers the vision that every child, regardless of caste or creed, has the right to a home, proper nutrition, quality education and primary health care. (Our contact, Oinak is about to start his second year of law...this orphan, now 22, has lived at Ramana's for his whole life and is a testament to the quality of education the children receive. )
