Body Wisdom: Navigating Stress with Somatic Awareness

Let’s talk about stress baby! Hands up if you feel yourself reacting to your environment all-the-time - that car that just cut you off, kids, partners or just a feeling of exhaustion from the 100’s of little things that always seem to be on your mind?  If your hand went up even just a little bit, then this introductory workshop into the world of Somatics, with Rachel Rosenberg is for you!

If you’ve never heard of the word Somatics, don’t worry - you’ve probably practised a form of somatics without even realising (hint, hint - yoga!) However, there are specific strategies we can use to release stress intentionally & create more capacity for those life ‘happenings’.

Somatics is like a whispered secret of the body, a language of sensations and movements waiting to be understood. It's the art of tuning into the wisdom of our own flesh and bones, to explore the intricate dance between mind and body. Through somatic practices, we unravel and release the knots of stress that bind us, and to rediscover freedom of movement. .

Expect to empower yourself with knowledge through practice & discussion in a safe & supportive environment.

You will:

  • Be guided into an arrival practice together

  • Learn what somatics is (on a deeper level).

  • Have the opportunity to reflect on your personal relationship with stress

  • Discover how we can set ourselves up for success to mobilise & release stress

  • Introduction into Somatic Language

  • Move into a practice (or two) to release a specific stressor in your life

  • + Special surprises!

Post workshop effects could include; feeling ‘lighter’, more grounded in your body, less tension, a sense of ease, self-compassion, openness & capacity for more; more presence, more life (including those inevitable stressors). It is suitable for all levels of yoga expereince…including none!

Rachel says: A yoga & meditation practice has always been something that has drifted in and out of my life when I needed it most. However, after spending 10 months travelling in France I reconnected with yoga again and I knew in my heart of hearts that this was something I wanted to dive into and explore completely. Movement has always been extremely important to me, having always done some form of sport or another throughout my life. The practice of yoga took things to the next level through the integration of mind, body, diet, breath and spirituality. I am particularly passionate about how the breath influences our entire being - our energy, hormones & mental state. I love the community that yoga creates; while it is an individual path for each person, it is also the thread that connects us all together.

Each time I practice I learn more about myself and it is a great joy to share that with others. I hope to bring my bubbly personality into each class, to challenge students to push themselves either mentally or physically - but also to encourage them to rest, restore & relax fully. I like to support people to move more intuitively or in a way that suits their body. I think now, in what is often a fast paced world, we need that Yin & Yang balance in our lives.
