Beginner's Yoga Course with Ryan + Catherine

Get ready to take your first step onto the yoga mat!

Ease into 2023 with this supportive and encouraging course for brand new yogis. We’ll put the FUN in fundamentals as we develop a solid foundation of the yoga basics.

You’ll learn about asanas (postures), pranayama (breathwork), and meditation. We’ll also touch lightheartedly on the philosophy of yoga so that you can understand the ‘why’ of this ancient yet modern practice.

Fun fact: Yoga is not only transformational for our physical bodies but also improves functional strength, helps prevent injury, increase range of motion, reduce stress as well as improve concentration and be an incredible tonic for our emotional wellbeing too.

Join Ryan Chhajed and Catherine Martin in a relaxed, informal atmosphere. Over four weeks we will :

  • Explore breathing techniques, and find out why they are key to establishing a steady practice: Some breaths are used for calm, others to cultivate more energy. Find out how to use them on and off the yoga mat.

  • Learn about warm-up poses: you’ll practice sun salutations, a foundational sequence that moves every major joint and muscle group in the body. Some people say it’s an apple a day that keeps the doctor away, we think it’s a sun salutation!

  • Experience standing postures to cultivate strength and balance. Warrior not worrier; you’ll develop stability from the ground up.

  • Develop a felt sense of how back bends and forward folds cultivate mobility in the spine, to awaken your energy and erase those little lower back niggles.

  • Try sitting postures to calm down and restorative ending poses for relaxation.

Who is this for?: This course is the perfect entry point if you are new to yoga. This course will give you the confidence to try other classes at the studio.

When: 4 Weeks from Saturday Wednesday 4 February, 11 February, 18 February, and 25 February from 10.45 to 12 noon (75 minute Classes)
