Beyond the Veils: Discovering Your True Nature of Wisdom, Unity and Freedom with Lisa Matthew

  • 1A Salisbury Avenue Blackburn, Vic, 3130 Australia (map)

Are you curious about what lies beneath the stories, habits, and layers that keep you from feeling fully yourself?

Would you love to explore ancient yogic teachings that help you see life’s challenges not as obstacles, but as invitations to awaken?

"We enter this world luminous and complete, then gradually lose ourselves beneath layers of illusion, unworthiness, and the weight of our own actions. The practice invites us to gently lift the veils that were never truly ours. Beneath it all awaits the radiance you were born with—patient, unchanging, whole."

Join senior teacher Lisa Matthews for an immersive exploration into the three Malas: Ancient yogic teachings that illuminate the fabric of our human experience.

Together we'll journey through the sacred veils:

  • Anava Mala, the forgetfulness of our divine nature

  • Mayiya Mala, the illusion of separation

  • Karma Mala, the weight of unconscious patterns

When we approach these teachings as invitations rather than obstacles, we begin to unveil the wisdom already present in our hearts, find unity within our restless minds, and experience true freedom in our bodies.

You'll be guided through:

  • Inclusive yoga practices weaving philosophy into movement

  • Guided meditation and mindfulness explorations

  • Gentle chanting and mantra work

  • Heartfelt group dialogue and sharing

Come as you are. All levels welcome.

About Lisa Matthews

Lisa has been a dedicated student of yoga for the past 20 years and a yoga teacher for 13 years.  Initially introduced to yoga through meditation, philosophy, chanting and seva (selfless service) her practice expanded to incorporate a fluid yet grounded asana practice.

Lisa served as a manager of international ashrams both in Sydney and Ganeshpuri India. Continuing her yoga studies on her return to Australia, she was handed over the reins to a boutique Yoga and Creative Dance School in Warrandyte, The Bhava Centre.  Lisa lovingly owned and operated the studio for several years; guiding the direction and progress of many students through weekly classes and supporting the 300 hr Teacher Training program offered at the studio.

Honouring her deep desire to make a difference in the lives of trauma sufferers through the lens of yoga, Lisa travelled to New York to undertake Off The Mat into the World’s Yoga for Purpose, Social Change training with Sean Corne, Hala Khouri and Suzanne Sterling.  On her return to Australia, Lisa was invited to join the Board of Directors of a yoga inspired Not For Profit, Yogahood Australia.  Together she co-created and delivered a Trauma Informed Teacher Training to upskill volunteers in preparation for teaching in these sensitive and specialised settings.

Lisa has studied under many renowned teachers including Gurumayi Chidvilasananda and the Siddha Yoga tradition, Anusara Yoga, Embodied Flow and Sarah’s Powers Yin yoga training.  An eternal student, Lisa is always adding to her skillset and is currently furthering her studies in Holistic Counselling to broaden her offering of support and for her own growth and evolution.
