Finding Space in Stressful Times: 4 Week Meditation Course with Rob Langworthy

  • 1A Salisbury Avenue Blackburn, Vic, 3130 Australia (map)

For many of us the world we live in today is filled with chronic stress, anxiety and apprehension about what the future holds. At times it feels like there’s just no opportunity to catch a breath and gain a different perspective.

This is where creating a practice of meditation can be of tremendous benefit. Through meditation we allow ourselves to experience what I would simply call space. A space where we can disengage from the busy activity of the mind and the sometimes overwhelming emotional reactivity we experience from just living life. Within this “space,” lies great peace and freedom.

In this course we will explore a variety of approaches towards meditation that will enable the formation of a strong and rewarding practice. There is also something about meditating together as a group that really gives support and strength to each other’s practice.

  • Week 1: We will establish a foundation for meditation—looking at how posture, breath and self-inquiry, enables us to connect with awareness—the substratum of a powerful meditation practice.

  • Week 2: We will explore the Vedantic philosophical approach and how it focuses on the practice of letting go. That is, letting go of old thought patterns, emotions and perceptions about ourselves that can contract us, and limit our experience of who we essentially are.

  • Week 3: We will explores meditation based on the philosophy of Kashmir Shaivism. With this approach we look at ourselves and our relationship with our world in context of wholeness and inclusion; this enables us to inhabit an expanded sense of self and experience a greater sense of peace and equanimity.

  • Week 4: Experience mindfulness. We will draw on what we have learned from the first three weeks and look at how we can apply these methods not only as a daily practice, but also how we can integrate them into a moment to moment experience of living life.

Dates: Monday 17, 24 April, 1, 8 May from 7.30-8.45pm (Four Week Course)

Venue: In studio at Seed Yoga + Wellness, 1A Salisbury Ave, Blackburn

Investment: $180
