For India: A Special Fundraiser. With Vanessa Hollo + Lisa Allwell

  • 1A Salisbury Avenue Blackburn, Vic, 3130 Australia (map)

* NOW FULLY BOOKED* We owe so much to India for sharing the rich tradition of yoga with us. The benefits move far beyond simple flexibility. We have been shown how to calm the mind, move with purpose and connect to our hearts and communities. We have been shown how to use our breath to bring peace, energy and connection.

Let's explore this together in a traditional Hatha practice- raise our awareness while we raise much needed funds. Hatha practices look a little different from the modern vinyasa you might be used to. A traditional hatha practice is slower and with less emphasis on fancy shapes. It then allows us to harness our breath and power - to calm the mind and increase our vitality and connection.

We will use simple chants, traditional asana and a rich pranayama and meditation practice over 1.5 hrs . This practice is not suitable for pregnant women.

Every cent from this class will be sent to our charity partner, Ramana’s Garden, an orphanage and school in Rishikesh India.

Donation: $40

We have some special surprises (and prizes) in this class. Our friends at Liquido Active have given us 3 pairs of yoga leggings to give away. (Each pair valued at $104) Obourne have donated a Kakadu Plum Skin Care System (Value $65).

We are also conducting a silent auction with items from Calm Budhi, Delama Wellness, Holism, The Connected Space and more!

There will be chai, bliss balls and yogi chats after the class, as we connect with our tribe.

About Ramana’s Garden

ur hearts are breaking with the images and messages we are receiving from our dear friends in India. They need our help! We are raising funds and awareness to support Ramana's Garden, an orphanage and school for at-risk children in Rishikesh, in the foothills of the Himalayas.

In travelling through India we have seen that the yoga is hidden in plain sight....you don’t see people practicing Warrior 2 but instead you witness a different kind of yoga, the yoga of service and devotion. We have met and been inspired by Prabhavati Dwabha, a former Hollywood actress who tuned her back on fame and fortune and created a very special Children's Home which provides care and love to the orphans of Rishikesh. One year we were invited to the birthday party of a little girl who was rescued after being found in a dumpster and now has a safe and loving home in this very special place. This is just one story: Prabhavati has rescued hundreds of children in her 36 years of continuous seva and we love her no bullshit approach to making magic happen.

Prabhavati has reached out to us for help. The orphanage is usually funded by an organic cafe, which feeds the tourists. (There now no tourists and the cafe has been closed for over 12 months.)The orphanage is supported by long-term volunteers. (Volunteers are unable to travel.) Prabhavati would like to create an emergency fund for both children and villagers who have nothing. COVID is rampant in Rishikesh, and she has told us "we are losing friends and neighbours every day." Please consider donating to this very special place, every dollar will make a difference to the quality of life for these children

Ramana’s Garden offers the vision that every child, regardless of caste or creed, has the right to a home, proper nutrition, quality education and primary health care. (Our contact, Oinak is about to start his second year of law...this orphan, now 22, has lived at Ramana's for his whole life and is a testament to the quality of education the children receive. )

You can read more about their work at here.
