We have collectively navigated trying times together over the past few years. These times have tried our nervous system's capacity to respond to the world. It has left many of us feeling a bit numb, short tempered and generally less capable than before the pandemic. As our nervous systems attempt to acclimate to a new way of living, our tools to feel alive and present become more important.
Polyvagal Theory is a theory of the nervous system that looks at understanding the different responses of your nervous system. But Polyvagal also includes states of regulation, which happen when we feel safely connected to other people. By learning to recognise our different responses, we can start to identify when we are feeling triggered. And it can allow us the tools to navigate to states of regulation more quickly.
This workshop will focus on mapping the nervous system and then explore a simple somatic tools to find states of regulation. You will walk away being able to identify the things that regulate you quickly.
You will:
Learn some anatomy of the nervous system, and explore how it relates to the Polyvagal Theory.
Experience a nourishing slow flow practice aimed at relaxing the nervous system, and helping to restore the body after stressful periods. (Suitable for all levels of yoga experience, including none.)
Expect to go home with a little tool kit to help you navigate tricky and triggering situations.
