The Art of Intention: Qigong & Creative Expression for the New Year. With Vickie Liew + Kerrie Jacobs

  • 1A Salisbury Avenue Blackburn, Vic, 3130 Australia (map)

Step into the New Year with intention and inspiration! This afternoon workshop invites you to awaken your inner artist and reconnect with your vital energy through a harmonious blend of Qigong and art journaling. Imagine yourself immersed in the meditative flow of Qigong, followed by an artful journey that brings together reflection, creativity, and mindful expression. Together, we’ll use these practices as a means to reflect on the year gone by, while planting seeds for the positive energy and dreams you wish to cultivate in the year ahead.

What You’ll Experience:

  • Qigong for Release & Renewal: We begin with a gentle Qigong practice to clear energy blockages, calm the mind, and allow the natural flow of Qi (your life force) to move freely within. Through slow, purposeful movements, you’ll open pathways within yourself that promote relaxation, clarity, and a state of openness that’s perfect for creative exploration.

  • Guided Art Journaling for Reflection & Inspiration: Drawing on the energy released through Qigong, we’ll dive into art journaling. You’ll be guided to express your thoughts and emotions. This creative journey becomes a way to honour the experiences of the past year while setting a visual foundation for the year to come. You’ll tap into your intuition, exploring your unique perspective and bringing your intentions to life on the page.

  • Concluding Qigong & Yin for Grounding: As we wind down, we’ll flow into a restful, floor-based Yin sequence. This soothing practice will help ground the experiences of the day, giving you a sense of balance, restoration, and peace. You’ll leave feeling centered, with renewed energy for the days ahead.

What You’ll Take Home:

  • Personal reflections, new ideas, and creative expressions that capture your intentions for the new year.

  • A sense of calm, grounding, and energy flow to set you up for the new year.

  • Techniques for art journaling that can be used in an ongoing creative or reflective practice.

  • A deeper understanding of how mindfulness and energy practices can enhance your creativity and self-expression.

Your Guides:

Vickie Liew: Yoga became a part of my life in 2016 when I joined a local studio. I felt its transformative effect on me, in all aspects as I became a regular practitioner. During the pandemic lockdowns, I started and completed my first yoga teacher training course, more for self-knowledge and personal growth. However it eventually led me down the path to teaching, especially after more training and courses followed the first one, as I became more confident in myself. I began teaching online in 2021 in and amongst the frequent lockdowns and finally started teaching in person in December 2021.

I love Vinyasa for the dance-like quality of the practice where you flow from one pose to another in sync with your breath. And I love Yin Yoga for its self-healing and meditative qualities.

I love every aspect of yoga, and now that I teach it, I feel purposeful and fulfilled, that I have something to offer the world that is truly transformative and beneficial to everyone.

Kerrie Jacobs: Kerrie is a Melbourne based artist. Her business, Meraki Art specialises in Resin, Inks, Acrylics and Mixed Media. Kerrie loves the unpredictable nature of Resin and Inks, the colour, texture and chaos it creates! On the other hand Kerrie loves the structure and predictability of Acrylics! Kerrie is a keen yogi and she practices at Seed Yoga several times each week. She has collaborated on several Seed retreats and loves to run art workshops, conveying the message that EVERYONE is creative.
