Unwind & Release: Targeting Tension Using MFR with Vickie Liew

  • 1A Salisbury Avenue Blackburn, Vic, 3130 Australia (map)

Be your own massage therapist!

Experience the magic of roll + restore using myofascial release (MFR) therapy balls to target trigger points in the body and release tension in the connective tissues (also known as fascia). This workshop will give you an introduction to fascia, the importance of myofascial release and the techniques you need to give yourself a massage just about anywhere, anytime, to restore the fascia and build tissue resilience.

You will be guided on a journey to release tension in the common areas of the body from the feet, legs, and hips to the back, shoulders, neck and head using therapy balls.

This is a real treat for anyone who feels tense and stiff from deskbound jobs, poor posture, long flights, stress, as well as those of you who are new mums, training for sports, or recovering from injury.  MFR helps to restore motion, enhance tissue strength, promote circulation, and so much more.

There will be delicious yin poses offered throughout the session to allow the body to integrate and absorb the benefits of the release work.

MFR can:

  1. Relieve Muscle Tension and Pain
Targeting trigger points with MFR therapy balls helps release built-up tension in the fascia, easing muscle pain and stiffness.

  1. Improve Flexibility and Range of Motion
By restoring mobility in the connective tissues, MFR techniques can enhance flexibility and increase the range of motion in your joints.

  2. Boost Circulation and Promote Healing
MFR therapy promotes blood flow and circulation, aiding in the body’s natural healing processes and reducing inflammation.

  3. Self-Care Anywhere, Anytime
Learn easy-to-apply techniques to give yourself a massage whenever needed, making MFR a practical tool for daily self-care and stress relief.

  4. Prevent Injury and Support Recovery
Regular MFR helps build tissue resilience, making it ideal for those training for sports, recovering from injuries, or looking to prevent future injuries.

  5. Deep Relaxation and Stress Relief
Yin poses incorporated throughout the workshop enhance the release work, allowing the body to deeply relax and absorb the benefits, leaving you feeling restored and rejuvenated.

You can expect to feel more relaxed, restored and mobile after this hands-on workshop.

About Vickie Liew

Yoga became a part of my life in 2016 when I joined a local studio. I felt its transformative effect on me, in all aspects as I became a regular practitioner. During the pandemic lockdowns, I started and completed my first yoga teacher training course, more for self-knowledge and personal growth. However it eventually led me down the path to teaching, especially after more training and courses followed the first one, as I became more confident in myself. I began teaching online in 2021 in and amongst the frequent lockdowns and finally started teaching in person in December 2021.

I love Vinyasa for the dance-like quality of the practice where you flow from one pose to another in sync with your breath. And I love Yin Yoga for its self-healing and meditative qualities.

I love every aspect of yoga, and now that I teach it, I feel purposeful and fulfilled, that I have something to offer the world that is truly transformative and beneficial to everyone.”
