5 Week Beginner's Yoga Course with Katie Byford

Would you like to explore/discover more about the origins of yoga?

Would you like to cultivate a safe and steady yoga practice?

Are you ready to put the ‘fun’ in fundamentals? If the answer is heck yes! This course is for you!

Over a five week journey you will delve deep into yoga basics. Perfect if you are new to yoga or if you’ve been practicing for a while but looking to understand the ‘why’ of yoga and how to tailor the practice perfectly for you.

Katie will cover all aspects of yoga, from the history, the breath (pranayama) to the physical postures and meditation.

Expect to walk away with a better understanding of how you can take your practice to the next level. You will learn how to modify to support your current level of practice and how yoga can help to build muscle, prevent injuries and to boost your focus.

Week 1: Why Yoga? A look at the history of yoga and an introduction to important warm ups before starting any asana practice.

Week 2: Pranayama: Learn yoga breathing techniques: and discover how to use breath to enhance your practice.

Week 3: Yoga fundamentals: Learn the yoga poses of the Sun Salutation A sequence with regressions and progressions.

Week 4: Pose Categories: Explore and understand a range of yoga poses including standing shape, balances, twists, backbends and inversions to suit "every body"

Week 5: An introduction to meditation: Find calm and learn why savasana is so important to complete any yoga practice.

About Katie Byford

Katie loves teaching yoga basics! Her yoga journey started no too long after leaving the corporate world in the UK and moving overseas. She found herself turning to her yoga practice to work towards achieving her own personal health goals and from there developed a passion for fitness. Having now run 2 full marathons yoga gave Katie the courage and strength to be able to achieve these goals. She found her passion, enrolled and completed her Advanced Diploma Teacher Training in Hatha Yoga with further studies in Yin Yoga Level 2 Teacher Training.

With an interest in yoga anatomy, Katie has completed further anatomy courses and always brings this into her practice, You will find her classes bring challenge, strength and creativity and sequences from an anatomical focus. Her classes bring that balance, whilst leading her students to move, breathe and feel connected to their bodies whilst finding their own rhythm. Katie loves that yoga builds a strong bond between her body and her mind and the peace and space she gets when she rolls out her yoga mat. She loves to share this with her students.
